Jeanne Theen

 

Jeanne Wolf Theen, 96, of Alton died Jan. 11, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Alton. Born in El Paso, Texas, Dec. 28, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Laura Roth and Rudolph Wolf. When she was three months old, the family returned to Edwardsville.

She was a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri and The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She was a member of Eta Epsilon Gamma sorority at Stephens College and Chi Omega sorority at William and Mary.

She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton and was a member of the Ninian Edwards Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former member of the Board of the Madison County Historical Society and a former member of the American Association of University Women.

On June 10, 1944 she married Frederick W. Theen of Alton at the First Presbyterian Church in Edwardsville. He died Jan. 18, 1983 in Alton. She is survived by two sons, James W. Theen, MD (Cathy) of Medford, Oregon and John F. Theen, JD (Kathy) of O'Fallon, Illinois. She is also survived by three grandchildren Andrew Theen (Kathy) of Portland, Oregon, Ryan Theen of Collinsville, Illinois, and Allison Theen Callahan (Brett) of Portland, Oregon, three step-grandchildren, Jeremy Stalcup of Norfolk, Virginia, Alicia Stalcup of Alton and Christopher Stalcup of Cottage Hills, a great granddaughter Anna Mae Theen in Portland, Oregon and two step-great granddaughters, Isabella Kathryn Stalcup of Norfolk, Virginia and Amelia Rose Stalcup of Cottage Hills. Her brother, George R Wolf preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.
