Jean Maxson

Jean Mary Maxson, 88, passed away at 4:24 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born in Bristol, Pa., on Dec. 18, 1923, the daughter of the late James Willard and Elva Mary (Simpson) Wilson. She married Louis William Maxson on June 26, 1944, in Claremont, N.H. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Jean was a housewife most of her life and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Alton Service League, a member of the Mayflower Society, Pink Lady at St. Anthony's Hospital, Lockhaven Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Alton.

She is survived by her daughter and spouse, the Rev. Marcia (Leon) Haller of Camp Hill, Pa.; two sons and spouse, David (Janice) Maxson of Seattle, Wash., and Bruce Maxson of Sterling, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Spencer L., Mark M., Melanie J. Haller, William B., Andrew D., Thomas R. and Audrey E. Maxson; three great-grandchildren, Abigail J., Molly S. and Ryan J. Haller. Jean was also survived by many kind friends, including Dr. Bill Allen.

In addition to her parents, her husband and a son, Thom Maxson, preceded her in death.

Visitation was on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church of Alton with the Rev. David Crowley officiating. Burial followed at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
