Christian Ed & Youth
Our Youth Group meets every Sunday evening, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
During the months of October and November, 2010, we made and sold chocolate toffee bark as a fund-raiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Resaerch Foundation (JDRF). We also put up our Hat & Mitten Tree, which collected donations of hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, stuffed animals, new socks (adult & children) and underwear (children) that were given away to guests of the Saturday Cafe and those picking up Thanksgiving Baskets. We had a number of "harvests" from the tree during the Fall and Advent seasons. Thank you for your generosity!

Having fun together...

Sharing a fellowship meal...

Lessons, discussion and games.....

The Youth started the Second Saturday Cafe, a "soup kitchen" offering lunch every second Saturday of the month, as their mission. The cafe is partially funded by sales from Abraham's Tent (see Mission & Outreach), a church mission shop located in the fellowship hall at First Church. The tent offers "fair trade" articles from Serrv International and "Celtic" items from Creative Irish. The shop supports missions both globally and locally.
Since that time, the Saturday Cafe has grown to include serving a lunch to those in need at our church or at the First Unitarian Church of Alton every Saturday. Other local churches and organizations have joined to become a part of this mission, serving food donated and prepared by their members from our kitchen and fellowship hall.
All youth, 5th grade through high school, are welcome to join us on Sunday evenings! Please call the church 618.465.3592, for more information.
