Worship & Music

...at  First Presbyterian Church

Worship is at the very heart of the church's life. All that the church is and does is rooted in its worship.  The community of faith, gathered in response to God's call, is formed in its worship.  Worship is the principal influence that shapes our faith, and is the most visible way we express the faith. ---  Book of Common Worship of the Presbyterian Church (USA) Preface

Divine Worship  at First Church is both traditional in style/expression, as well as contemporary in inclusivity and relevancy.  We are a congregation with traditional values and culture who celebrates our historic roots through solid reform theology and enjoys music and liturgy of many ages.  Our worship content is prescribed by the Directory for Worship, which is a part of the constitution of the church, and thus, has the authority of church law.  It provides the theology that undergirds worship and includes appropriate directions for worship.  The church's service book (Book of Common Worship)  provides our orders and texts for each service.  Please join us for worship each Sunday morning at 10:00.  Nursery service is available for infants and children through age 4. Children's Church School is also available duirng the service.

Special worship opportunities apart from the weekly schedule are always noted on the Announcements page of this website.  These services may include observances celebrating Worship/Eucharist on feast days, additional seasonal worship such as Advent/Lent (often times an evening service) and special choral worship Vespers (All Saints Day) offered by the choir.

Sanctuary Choir rehearsals are held each Wednesday evening at 7:00 in the Choir Room. No   audition is necessary. We welcome all who bring enthusiasm to our fellowship!

Bell Choir rehearsals are held each Sunday morning following worship.  All music readers middle school age and older are encouraged to join this fellowship of tintinabulators!
